Race Selection

Bards can be one of four races on Project Quarm. Race choice has minimal long-term impact due to gear, so pick whichever race you enjoy playing the most.

Half-Elf

  • Highest overall melee stats
  • Most popular choice
  • Infravision (night vision)

Wood Elf

  • Trades strength for agility
  • Infravision (night vision)
  • Slightly smaller model — easier to navigate tight spaces

Human

  • Consistent stats, no night vision
  • People like it for the eyepatch model

Vah Shir

  • Runs the best (lol) and gets +10 safe fall
  • Gets access to the Vah Shir only cloak (Jharin Hero Cloak), but hard to acquire
  • Starts in Shar Vahl on Luclin

Note: Race choice has minimal long-term impact due to gear.

Starting Stats

When creating a bard on Project Quarm, you get 25 bonus stat points to distribute. How you allocate them depends on whether you want immediate leveling benefits or long-term min-maxing.

Most Popular: Full STA (Stamina)

  • 100+ STA prevents stat penalties when fatigued (-10 STR/DEX/AGI) — best choice for a first-time character
  • Extra HP is useful for leveling and swarming
  • CHA is hardest to cap in Velious/Luclin without raid gear

Alternative (vaalkryst): All INT or CHA

  • Most other stats cap easily with gear and buffs
  • CHA provides +1% blur chance per 10 points
  • INT slightly increases mana pool
  • Mainly for min-maxing end-game builds

Note: Stats matter less at end-game due to gear, but STA gives immediate leveling benefits.

Stat Breakdown

Stamina (STA)

  • Directly increases HP pool
  • 100+ STA avoids fatigue penalties
  • Best stat for survivability while leveling and swarming

Charisma (CHA)

  • Affects charm duration and blur success rate
  • +1% blur chance per 10 CHA
  • Hardest stat to cap through gear alone

Intelligence (INT)

  • Increases mana pool slightly
  • Bards have a small mana pool regardless
  • Mainly relevant for min-maxing

Other Stats

  • STR, DEX, AGI — all cap easily with gear and buffs
  • WIS — does nothing for bards
  • No need to invest starting points in melee stats
